Once the staple of summertime date nights drive-in theaters have gradually disappeared from the American landscape but the 49er Drive-in remains. Outdoor theaters are becoming harder and harder to find yet. Luckily though the 49er Drive-In in Valparaiso is close to campus and can be attended while social distancing.

Open every night Memorial Day weekend to the third week in August. The outdoor theater opened for its 55th season with a brand new screen and updated concession menu in May 2011. The 49er is about an hour east of Chicago on the Skyway.

The film takes viewers on an awe-inspiring tour of some of the countrys most legendary national parks including Yellowstone Yosemite Glacier National Park Redwood National Park the Everglades and Arches. The 49er Drive In Theater named one of Americas top 10 drive-in theaters is conveniently located approximately 10 minutes from Chesterton right off of Calumet Avenue Old State Road 49.
